General Medicine

The standard length course is six years (12 semesters).

Each academic year starts in September and lasts till the end of August of the following year.

The academic year is divided into two semesters, Winter semester (from September till February) and Summer semester (from February till August).

Each academic year has 3 examination periods. Winter semester from middle December until middle February and Summer semester from end of May until start of July and the last one from middle of August until end of August.

• 1st to 2nd year’s courses provide theoretical knowledge

• 3rd year starts the pre-clinical lectures and pre-clinical practice to the hospitals.

• 4th to 6th year starts clinical experiences in the hospital.

After passing the 4 state examinations in Gynecology, Surgery, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics (6th year), the graduate obtains the degree MD./ MUDr. – Medicinae universae doctor.

Dentistry

The standard length course is six years (12 semesters).

After passing the 5 state examinations, 2 on 5th year, Surgery and Internal medicine and 3 on 6th year, Orthopedic Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Therapeutic Dentistry, the graduate obtains the degree MDDr. Medicinae Dentale Doctor.

Frequent asked questions about Faculty of Medicine

First of all, you have to contact us.
We will help you with the whole process of the submission.
To be admitted you will have to succeed at the entrance exams test.
Entrance exams test consists of 100 multiple choice questions in Chemistry & 100 multiple choice questions in Biology*
(*Each question has 4 answers, with only one answer correct. There is negative points. So from each question you can get minimum -4 points.)
Aim of each applicant is to obtain at least 400/800 points (maximum) for General Medicine and 500/800 points for Dentistry
Applicants have 3 hours to complete the test.
The necessary books for the entrance exams, are provided by our company, to all of ours candidates.
The application procedure starts on 01/04/2020 and ends 31/05/2020 for the entrance exams of June and 31/07/2020 for the entrance exams of August.
The entrance exams for the year 2020/2021 will take place on xxth & xxth of June 2020 and xxth & xxth August 2020 in the University facilities in Bratislava
The results of each entrance exams are provided at the faculty webpage www.fmed.uniba.sk at the day of the entrance examinations according to individually assigned identification codes and on the notice board of the Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University in Bratislava
To be admitted to the University, you have to get minimum, 400 points in total for Medicine and 500 points for Dentistry.
By the time you see your results on universities web page and you have at least the required points, you can consider yourself student of Comenius University
Applicants with score less than the required points, they get to a waiting list, and the Dean of the University decides how many of them, will be accepted*.
* This depends of the number of the candidates who enroll every year and the actual "free" places.
Fees are paid directly to University's bank account.
Fees for the academic year 2018/2019 shall be paid at once until 25/08/2018.
The enrollments take place in the first week of September.
Semester starts around middle of September.
The University accept transfers, the year of the succeed transfer depends of the syllabus of his current university and the grades/ marks that student has in each individual subject. (Mark "E" is not recognized, subjects passed with "E", will have to be repeated). The candidate has to have confirmation, that at the time of application, is a student of the respective university and has passed/completed all the courses (no course has been failed).
Candidate has to take the entrance exams and succeed.
None institute in Slovakia offers scholarships for foreign students
By university law, the candidate who will pay the fees but will not complete his/hers enrollment to the university, can request his/hers money back.
In case though, that the candidate will complete the enrollment, there is no refund policy.

  • High School Certificate – with apostille and notary authorized translation into Slovak Language
  • Validation of General Certificate of Secondary school, by ministry of education in Slovakia
  • Certificate about vaccination against hepatitis B
  • Photocopy of the Passport/ID
  • 3 passport-sized photographs (3.5 x 4.5)
  • Notary copy of the Validation/ Nostrification of General Certificate of Secondary school done by the ministry of education in Slovakia
